LMU Law, which is founded in 2009, was founded with a mission to have students come here and go represent real people in the real world. And that's what we see our students doing all the time. We have students practicing in areas that include criminal law, family law, immigration law, several areas of the law in which they are able to go back into their communities or stay here in Knoxville and represent real people with real legal problems.
Since the time our school was founded, it has grown in numerous ways. We have a full complement of clinical courses that include clinicals in immigration law, domestic violence and mediation. We have grown our student body. We have students practicing in different areas geographically and in different areas of the law, and we have a lot more services and organizations that our students take advantage of while they are here.
We also have students that are able to go out and practice in different law offices in this area to get real life experience. Our mission is really to educate strong lawyers and leaders who will be looked to as role models in their community. And it's really just as important for us to impart those professional skills as it is the doctrinal skills that they will need in their core classes to succeed in the bar exam.
Because ultimately, more than likely, the graduates are going to specialize in one area or another, and so perhaps across multiple areas. But those professional skill
will help them in whatever area they choose to practice.
